Odd Commodity was never just a business. It started with materials the world had already given up on and grew into a living example that creativity, sustainability, and community can build something real together. Meet the Oakland maker proving that a career in art and a better world are not two separate goals.
Odd Commodity Shop grew from my background in architectural design and a lifelong fascination with how thoughtful design shapes the way we experience the world. Today, I apply that same mindset to reclaimed materials, creating collections that balance beauty, function, and sustainability. Every piece is handmade from glass that has already lived another life, making each one as unique as the story it carries.

Sustainability isn't simply the material I work with. It's the lens through which I make every decision. From reclaiming local glass and creating refillable candles to teaching hands on workshops, my hope is to make sustainable choices feel approachable, beautiful, and worth celebrating. Every object has the potential for another chapter if we're willing to imagine it differently.
This is not a typical small business and it was never meant to be. It is a demonstration that creativity, sustainability, and community belong in the same sentence, that a career in art does not require extractive production, and that the most beautiful things are often the ones the world already tried to throw away.
